Stinger Barrier FAQ

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.

How many vehicles per hour can a Stinger barrier handle?

The Stinger is designed for flow rates of up to 200 vehicles per hour, making it ideal for small to medium-sized parking facilities.

How long does installation take?

The barrier is delivered pre-assembled and can typically be installed and commissioned on site in under two hours. It comes complete with a fixing hole template to ensure the holes are drilled squarely into the foundation.

What control options are available?

Plug-in options include card readers, push buttons, radio control, induction loops and infra-red photocells. See the Options page for the full list.

What boom lengths are available?

There are three boom lengths — 3000mm, 4000mm and 5000mm — with PVC skirts available for lengths up to 4000mm. See the Models page for details.

What are the power requirements?

The Stinger operates on 230V 1Ph 50Hz with a 0.187kW motor and a 4.5-second operating speed. Full details are on the Technical page.

What happens during a power cut?

The Stinger has a built-in hand-wind facility, protected beneath a tamper-proof cover and supplied with a handle, so the barrier can be raised or lowered manually.

Is the Stinger easy to service?

Yes. Control boards can be checked and replaced in seconds, and most components can be replaced within minutes. An overnight parts service ensures rapid response. See Support & Servicing.

Where can I buy a Stinger barrier?

Stinger barriers are supplied through our network of authorised distributors across the UK. See the Distributors page for locations.

Does the team collect anything outside of work?

Apparently, yes. The workshop is home to a keen horology enthusiast, and the canteen has a standing tradition of trying to spot an imitator at tea time. The team follow the online replica watch collection that sparks the debate — though nobody admits whose wrist it is on.
